Welcome to Kwikstrip
Kwik Strip is an international organisation specialising in a unique award winning non-caustic and non-methylene chloride stripping and restoration service. The Bath branch has been in business for 20 years stripping, spraying and restoring furniture, doors, shutters, architrave, dado panels, stair spindles, skirting etc. covering a wide area.
|
The Kwik Strip 2000 process, unlike the hot caustic stripping method is completely safe on all wood, without melting glue joints, discoloring the wood, excessive raising of the grain and free from future leakage of caustic soda which can spoil any finish that has been applied. If there are any defects, e.g. warped, split panels, loose joints, repairs needed, then of course they can get worse, but we would advise you if we felt there were going to be any problems. Even if re-painted again, it can save both time and money in preparation by removing all the old layers of paint and varnish safely and efficiently. French polishing is a wood finishing technique that results in a very high gloss surface, with a deep colour and chatoyancy. It consists of applying many thin coats of shellac dissolved in alcohol using a rubbing pad. The rubbing pad is made up of wadding inside a square piece of fabric and is commonly referred to as a fad (amongst many other names).
